ingredients:
Bread:
- 500g (17.6 oz) all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp salt
- 325ml (11.5 oz) milk
- ½ tsp instant yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 50g (1.76 oz) butter, room temperature
Garlic & parsley butter:
- 5-6 garlic cloves
- olive oil
- 50g (1.76 oz) butter, room temperature
- fresh chopped parsley
- 200g (7 oz) white cheddar or your preferred cheese
instructions:
- Combine flour, yeast, sugar, salt, milk, and butter to form a smooth dough. Knead until elastic.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 60 minutes, until doubled.
- Grate white cheddar and finely chop 3 tablespoons of fresh parsley. Set aside.
- Press 6 garlic cloves into a bowl. Add room temperature butter together with parsley and cheddar. Mix well.
- Roll dough into a square and spread the garlic-cheese mixture evenly on top.
- Cut into long strips and stack them on top of each other. Place the pieces upright into a loaf pan with the cut side up. Press together tightly.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter and serve warm.
